Become an Analyst
Build a retail consulting practice — without starting from scratch.
The A Circle is building a network of independent retail analysts. You bring the expertise. We provide the methodology, the clients, the technology, and the infrastructure. You focus on the work.
How It Works
The A Circle is the broker. You are the expert.
Most consultants spend half their time on things that are not consulting: building a website, finding clients, chasing invoices, setting up software. That is time and money you do not have to spend here.
The A Circle generates leads, closes clients, holds the billing relationship, and provides all the technology infrastructure. Analysts receive client assignments and a share of revenue as independent contractors. You can start with one client alongside your current job and scale from there.

What You Get
What working with The A Circle looks like.
A proven methodology — 40 years deep
You are not building a retail consulting framework from scratch. You get a structured process refined across decades of independent retail work — the same system John Adams built and The A Circle carries forward.
Clients delivered to you
The A Circle handles lead generation, qualification, and closing. You focus entirely on the advisory work. No cold outreach, no proposals, no awkward pricing conversations.
Flexible — keep your day job to start
Engagements are built around monthly advisory sessions. Start with one client alongside your current work. Ramp up at your own pace.
You are paid. The A Circle invoices.
The A Circle manages all billing and client financials. You receive your share as an independent contractor (1099). No chasing invoices, no accounts receivable.
Built-In Infrastructure
The tech to run your practice is already built.
Starting a consulting practice typically means months of setup and thousands of dollars in software before you ever see a client. The A Circle eliminates that entirely. Every analyst in the network gets access to a complete technology stack on day one.
Your own professional website
A branded, ready-to-use website built on the same standard as theacircle.co. You do not start from a blank page — you launch with a professional presence from day one.
A full CRM built for your practice
Client tracking, follow-up automation, and pipeline management — set up and ready to use. Powered by the same systems The A Circle runs on. No tech setup required on your end.
Automation tools that work for you
Onboarding sequences, monthly check-in reminders, report delivery, and follow-up workflows — all pre-built. The system handles the operational repetition so you focus on client work.
A private AI knowledge base
A branded AI assistant trained on 40 years of retail methodology. Ask it anything — OTB strategy, margin planning, markdown timing — and get reliable, methodology-grounded answers instantly.
A consultant-only community
A private space for The A Circle analyst network. Share client scenarios, learn from peers, get support from leadership, and grow alongside consultants doing the same work.
What We Look For
The qualities that make a strong fit.
Retail operations experience
You have worked inside a retail business — buying, planning, merchandising, or operations — and you understand how a store actually runs.
Comfort with financial data
You can read a P&L, work with inventory reports, and translate numbers into clear, actionable direction for a business owner.
Strong client communication
You know how to deliver difficult news, ask the right questions, and build trust with an owner who is protective of their business.
Independent and reliable
You are self-managed. You do not need to be chased for deliverables. Your clients know they can count on you every single month.
Background
Who tends to be a strong match.
We are not looking for generalists. Our clients need advisors who have lived the operational realities of retail. The following backgrounds tend to produce the strongest outcomes for the retailers we serve.
Former retail buyer, planner, or merchandise manager
Retail consultant or analyst with independent store experience
Former boutique or specialty retail owner who has navigated the operational side
Finance or accounting professional with significant retail industry exposure
Inventory or supply chain professional from a retail or wholesale background
